Here’s to the crazy ones…

Where’s the audacity in organisations and their people?  Even with the current economic situation, where much has been said about doing things differently, I see clients wanting to return to the status quo ‘comfort’.  No change here thank you!

Courageous, intrepid, dauntless, adventurous, impertinent and forward.  Extremely bold, daring and original.  Highly inventive.  Lively, unrestrained and uninhibited.

Audacious!

Einstein, Elizabeth Fry, Leonardo da Vinci, Florence Nightingale, Richard Branson, Anita Roddick, Steve Jobs, Mo Mowlem, Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, my 73 year old aunt graduating with her first degree…

Extra-ordinary people?  Or just ordinary people going the extra mile with themselves?

And what if you listened to your own ‘inner leadership’, the voice which calls you to your own extra mile?

Uncomfortable?  Scary?  Likely to cause controversy?  Possibly. Yet what’s the enormous price of you playing ’small’ and denying your own purpose, your own passion and your own power?

What’s the thing only your voice can say, only you can be and only you can do which will be of service to others, humanity and yourself?

When you know that… go, be and do it!

As Steve Jobs once said… “Here’s to the crazy ones…”

Another great blog, Sharon! :) I completely agree with you. I would add to this, who are we to deny the world and those living on it our gifts and talents and the light that is within? As Susan Jeffries so aptly put “feel the fear and do it anyway”. All parts of the jigsaw are just as valid and just as important as the next. All similar, all part of the same thing, but all bearing a slightly different part of the whole – to make up the whole.

Thank you Alun! And for your valuable contribution…. Yes, ‘all bearing a slightly different part of the whole.’

It is when we live in fear that we cannot change, that we dare not! You don’t have to be a rebel to find your own voice. You don’t have to go out on a limb or even think about changing the world. You just have to move ahead in spite of fear. You just have to realize that you can be more and you can live fully. And in doing so, you may effect change, you may very well change the world. Or at least the world you have been living in, expanding it, creating a new one, inhabiting it! It angers me that the status quo keeps us from ourselves. I like to think of my job as countering that in the workplace and outside of it. I would not describe myself as a nonconformist. Many of society’s rules are fine with me. But the ones that are not, I will continue to challenge, to infringe upon, to fight with all my heart to change. Thanks for this uplifting post and the link to THE CRAZY ONES. They don’t look crazy at all from where I am standing. Just inspiring!

I love your question “Extra-ordinary people? Or just ordinary people going the extra mile with themselves?” How many people do we know who are truly extraordinary in big and small ways? And the INNER leadership concept is vital to help us get out of our own way. This is where coaching can be such a great service to assist those who sense they have more to give yet may not know how they can release their potential to help others. Keep getting the message of Purpose Passion and Power out there … With you all the way!

  6. Sharon says:

Appreciate your valuable contribution Zoe… we are in total agreement! And I enjoyed how you made the point about inner leadership and getting out of our own way.
